About Fenwick University

"The King's Confessor: A Play"

"The Night the Barker Burned Down"

Finally! Another Fenwick alum has published a book, albeit an edited edition of a different author's work. Kris Christopher ('79) - daughter of Fenwick Professor and polymath Dick Christopher - recently brought back into print the 1940 play The King's Confessor by blackguard and all around bad guy Martin Thrush. Will any Fenwick graduates besides Madrox ever publish anything? That question remains to be answered. But  here's another book by JPM, released by Sinus Press in 2025.  If he keeps pumping out books at this clip, he'll soon be threatening JLB for most prolific Fenwickian.

"The Philosopher King: A Novel"

"The Blood Cries Out for Vengeance"

James P. Madrox (2011) recently informed his alma mater that his second novel, The Philosopher King, has been published by Cascade Books. Asked if Associate Professor Beauchard, who also publishes with Cascade, helped him secure the books deal, Madrox said, "Beauchard was instrumental to this book."

Despite receiving a less than stellar response from critics, Fenwick alum James P. Madrox (Class of 2011) was nonetheless proud to announce the publication of his debut novel in 2023. The book has been compared (by him) to works from authors with real talent like Cormac McCarthy and Flannery O'Connor.

Book Review: "The Mask of Memnon"

While not exactly an alum of the University, the independent scholar L.M. Rising is apparently friends with a Fenwick graduate named Melody Something-or-other (Class of 2020?) and was thus asked to review Professor Beauchard's first book, The Mask of Memnon: Meaning and the Novel.
